Armenia 2007
On the occasion of an OSCE election monitoring mission (parliamentary elections) in May 2007 in Armenia, I made the following pictures.
Nature in Armenia is beautiful and at times breathtaking.
Around Lake Sevan,
1900 m above sea level..
the economy is agricultural,
villages are poor,
industry is non-existent,
infrastructure is dreadful,
and public buildings dilapidated.
Armenia is famous and proud of..
..its history - the beautiful, thousand year old churches,
..dotted around the country..
..and obsessed with the memory of the 1915 genocide.
Food is sometimes basic...
and travel can be adventurous, but it is definitely worth going!
